Loki is arrested by the Time Variance Authority (TVA) when he creates a new timeline after escaping from the Battle of New York with the Tesseract in 2012. A second season was announced in July 2021. The season has received positive reviews, with praise for the performances, musical score, and visuals.
The first season premiered on Disney+ on June 9, 2021, running for six episodes until July 14, as part of Phase Four of the MCU. The season has a crime thriller tone, and sets up the events of the MCU films Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022) and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023).
